Offered for your consideration is a 1972 De Tomaso Pantera. This is the highly desirable chrome bumper model finished in Bright Red with a contrasting original Black interior. This Pantera, originally sold new in Colorado in 1973 has had 3 previous owners from new. Upon the death of the 3rd owner in 1988, the Pantera was stored for the next 23 years. In 2005 this Pantera was awaken from its slumber and a cosmetic and mechanical restoration was undertaken. The body was stripped to bare metal and resprayed in the original bright red. The paint finish and coach work is exemplary with excellent panel fit and closing gaps.
The mechanicals benefited from a complete, comprehensive overhaul, including updating the powerful 351 Cleveland for optimum performance on unleaded fuel. The induction system was enhanced with an aluminum intake manifold and performance carburetor. The clutch and flywheel were replaced and the engine assembly also dynamically balanced.
The cooling system was also addressed and upgraded with a Pantera Performance Cooing Package, including an oversize, “lay forward” cross flow, aluminum radiator, oversize electric cooling fans and proprietary aluminum fan shrouding & coolant hoses.
The wheels and tires are new Lemans chrome alloys 17 x 8″ front and 17 x 11″ rears with 225/45 front and 335/35 rear respectively. The clutch hydraulics were replaced along with front and rear brake pads.
The A/C system has been converted to R-134a and upgraded to a radial compressor and expansion valve for optimum performance and comfort.
The original interior is in excellent condition and is fitted with dual 4″ competition seat belts and shoulder harness, a smaller diameter leather steering wheel, Kenwood am/fm/cd.
This incredible Pantera is well sorted, runs, drives, handles and stops very well. This sale includes the 4 original Campagnolo alloy wheels, owner’s manual, original warranty card, spare wheel and tire and car cover. Everything on the car functions as is should, window lifts, head lamps, instruments, a/c, etc.
