This Lotus Elite, Series I, serial # 1054, was delivered in the first group of 4 cars sent to Chamberlain in the US, after the early production cars were delivered to anxious British enthusiasts.
This car has a rich racing provenance and a traceable ownership chain back to the first owner. It is a dual Weber equipped Elite. The engine is strong and responsive. The engine has previously been tended by Hutton Motor Engineering of Clarksville, Tennessee, a noted Coventry Climax engine builder and tuner. The gearbox is the modified BMC.
A professionally built roll bar is fitted as is a racing seat and approved 5 point harness and belts.
This Lotus is fitted with stronger 60 spoke wire wheels for competition, plus the 4 original 48 spoke wheels are included with the car as well. The spare tire is the original Dunlop on the original 48 spoke wheel. The spare tire cover is also included. The car has a fuel cell and an aluminum battery enclosure. The oil cooler and fuel and oil collector cans are also intact. The original drivers' seat and wood rimmed steering wheel are also included with the car
The exhaust was replaced last year and the clutch master cylinder was recently replaced. The racing number on the body is easily removable and was the same number the car used racing in the 1960's I'm certain this Lotus is elegible for competition events both here and abroad and qualifies for most of the vintage competition events and rallys.
Also included with this Lotus are the orignal windows, street air filters, various trophys, awards and photos.
