This Corvette has recently experienced a cosmetic restoration, by Corvette Restoration of AZ, which included a respray, to a very high and exacting standard, in the original Sun Fire Yellow (984). The fit and finish on the coachwork is excellent. The interior has been professionally redone in the original style black vinyl with the correct black loop nylon carpet. The convertible top is in excellent condition with no sags and an optically clear back light.
The real attraction to this Corvette is its “Road Manners”. It is well sorted and has participated in various rally's in the South West, including 5 entries in the Copper State 1000. These rally's allow the cars to be driven, where possible, in a very spirited manner, and occasionally reach speeds in triple digits. The original L72 engine has recently been restored to manufacturer’s original specifications and tolerances and delivers the awesome power through the rebuilt Muncie M21, 4 speed transmission in a most impressive demonstration of raw Detroit muscle. The differential was overhauled and the gear set was upgraded to a 355:1 for reduced engine RPM at speed. The suspension on this particular Corvette has been massaged by a local alignment specialist to integrate the Pirelli performance radial tires to harmonize with Corvette 4 wheel independent suspension. The result is impressive handling and rock steady performance throughout the speed range.
